While mum was visiting some old friends of hers, the rest
of us were exploring the wonders of the falconry centre and the safari park at Bewdley.
In the falconry centre there were tons and tons of birds of prey, ranging
between a barn owl and a Himalayan vulture. That was my least favourite bird…..
While we were there, there was a falconry experience going on, which is when the
public, when booked in advance, gets a small bird of prey to land on a leather
glove round and around the circle of people. Sadly, we didn’t get to do it on
this trip, but we did get to do it 4 years ago.
Next stop, Safari park. Beginning with a short
15 minute drive. When we got there the place was packed! While going through
the safari park, you stay in your car while you drive around slowly while
passing all the animals such as: White tigers, giraffes, rhinos, lions, camels,
deer, gazelles, elephants and the list goes on and on. Sometimes, if you’re
lucky, a deer might come up to your car and stick its face in through the
window! This happened to us quite a few times. Of course, the tigers were in a
massive cage so that they could walk around but not attack any of the people viewing
them. But, surprisingly the lions were not in a cage they were free to roam anywhere,
although most of them were asleep. It took us a couple of hours to go through
the whole course.
When the excitement was over, we headed off back to our
little cottage, picking up mum on the way. We had a relaxing afternoon by throwing
around the Frisbee and playing on the swing in the massive garden. Ready for the next big day tomorrow!
